4 things you should definitely consider before/when buying
1. Get an overview
Used watches are more popular than ever. At the beginning it is important that you inform yourself about the watch you are interested in and get an overview of the current market value of pre-owned watches.
If you have done enough research, you can start looking for your dream watch.
2. Correct choice of dealer
The be-all and end-all when buying a luxury watch is of course the choice of retailer. This must be both reputable and trustworthy. But how do you recognize a trustworthy or NOT a trustworthy dealer?
Once you have found a dealer who has your dream watch in stock (preferably GOAT LUXURY :P , of course), contact him and let him advise you on the watch that interests you. This is how you get a first impression.
What you can also do: Look at the ratings from other buyers, for example on Google or Instagram. Here at the latest you quickly notice whether a dealer is trustworthy or not.
But: In the end you have to decide for yourself whether you feel comfortable and in good hands with the dealer - because that is the most important thing.
3. Watch condition
Once you have decided on a retailer, take a close look at the photos of the watch that interests you.
Always try to watch the clock as closely as possible. If you are unsure about the condition, for example because you don't see something clearly in the photos, then always inspect your dream watch in real life. This way you can be 100% sure that the watch is in the stated condition.
If, for various reasons, you do not have the opportunity to look at the watch in person, do not be discouraged! You can have close-ups/videos of the watch sent to you privately by the retailer and in this way assess the condition of the watch.
4. Certificate of authenticity/authenticity of the watch
Only buy a used watch if you have at least one reputable certificate of authenticity or you have the authenticity confirmed by an independent concessionaire. Fakes are getting better and better and even experienced watchmakers often do not recognize at first glance whether it is a fake. It is therefore extremely important that such a certificate is included!
By the way: It is often wrongly assumed that the box and papers must always be present so that the authenticity of the watch can be proven. That's not true! Box and papers do not necessarily have to be included! Only the certificate of authenticity is essential.
